Chesney opts to "Take Her Home"

Thursday, November 9, 2023 – Kenny Chesney will release a new song, "Take Her Home," at midnight, he announced today.

"When I heard 'Take Her Home,' I just laughed," Chesney said. "It was everything life is made of in less than four minutes. It's true, honest and all the stuff that's easy to forget. All those details and little moments? The deep cut Cheap Trick, the black-and-pink suitcase in the back of the truck, a 7 pound, 5 ounce baby? That's what makes these kinds of life changes what they are. And it's funny: no matter what stage you're in, you really are always scared. That's how you know it's gonna be worth it."

"It's amazing how simple figuring life out can be," Chesney said. "I look around, and I see people in every state of this song every day. It's part of the miracle of being alive. Even when it's not happening to you, it's happening to someone you love – whether your friend, a brother or sister, co-worker – and that feeling comes right back. I can't wait to hear people singing this one back to us, because it's going to be one of those moments. I just know."

"Every now and then, you find a song that just feels right," Chesney said. "There's an honesty about life that you can't just churn out. Finding songs that ring true? When you hear one, you grab it – and that's a lot of how this song happened. We were trying to decide what to lead with, and someone sent me this demo, and I knew. No more discussion. We had the song – and a great time turning it into a record. Real life? There's nothing like it."

The news came two days after Chesney announced he would go on a stadium tour next year with Zac Brown Band, Parker McCollum and Megan Moroney.

CD reviews for Kenny Chesney

CD review - Here and Now deluxe After a storied run including eight Entertainer of the Year awards and two Greatest Hits albums (so far), Kenny Chesney was due for a setback. This one wasn't strictly personal, as the "Chillaxification" Tour got waylaid by a pandemic shutdown that scrapped most everything. The loss really belonged to the fans, as the original "Here and Now" record Chesney was supporting was a beauty – from the stirring "Knowing You" to the snarky "Wasted", ...
CD review - Here and Now For many years now, Kenny Chesney has been the number one yacht country artist; one never spotted far from an ocean or without an adult beverage in his hand. However, this album's title track expresses a much deeper perspective on life. "I must've sat on a dozen islands/Watched the sun sink into the sea." Previously, island living was the reason for life. Now, life's purpose is described as much more internal than external. Call it trading that pirate flag for a little more mindfulness. ...
CD review - Songs for the Saints Kenny Chesney's "Song for the Saints" is a step in the right direction for the popular country star. Inspired by the Hurricane Irma disaster, which hit Chesney personally as it destroyed a house he owned in the U.S. Virgin Islands, these songs are more serious and heartfelt than typical Chesney music. Best of all is "Love for Love City," a reggae duet with Ziggy Marley incorporating steel drums into an inviting island mix. It's followed by a cover of Lord ...
