The Deslondes "Roll It Out"

Wednesday, June 12, 2024 – The Deslondes will return with "Roll It Out" on Sept. 6 via New West Records.

The 13-song set was produced by Andrija Tokic and The Deslondes and was recorded at the Bombshelter in East Nashville, Tenn.

The Deslondes will launch their touring in support of "Roll It Out" on June 28. The tour, which will last throughout the end of the year, features a run of performances with Shannon & The Clams, as well as their New West labelmate Esther Rose.

"Roll It Out" follows 2022's "Ways & Means."

The new disc is the New Orleans' band's first with new drummer Howe Pearson, previously a touring member for Hurray for the Riff Raff. All songs were written by The Deslondes with the exception of "Drifter's Wife" by J.J. Cale. The album also features guest vocals by Twain (Mat Davidson) and horn arrangements by Tuba Skinny.

The Deslondes are Sam Doores, Riley Downing, Dan Cutler, John James Tourville and Pearson.

Tourville, one of their five songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, said, "It reminds me of back when we were starting out, before we were even the Deslondes— back when we were the Tumbleweeds. It's like we're moving forward to get to where we were."

The band combines classic country, folk, punk, rural blues, jazz, rockabilly and R&B.

Today, The Deslondes released the video for the album song "Take Me Back." Directed by Joshua Shoemaker, the clip features footage filmed throughout the band's nearly two-decade existence.

Doores, who is the lead singer, said, "When you're in the middle of wrapping up an album, it's easy to get lost in the details and deadlines and lose sight of the footsteps, friends & experiences that brought you to where you're at and what you're working on. When Joshua Shoemaker told me he had just unearthed a bunch of footage from way back in the day, I agreed that would suit the song perfectly. I'm very grateful to Joshua for taking all of this footage in the first place and now for dusting it all off. The video brings back so many fond memories of our early years coming together as a band and I'm proud to say that we all still love making music and laughing together."

The track list is:
1. Hold On Liza
2. Take Me Back
3. Lies I've Told

CD reviews for The Deslondes

CD review - Hurry Home On their eponymous 2015 debut album, The Deslondes cooked up an original musical gumbo befitting their New Orleans base, a steaming stewpot filled to the rim with flecks of country, folk, roots rock, Tex-Mex, Stax/Sun soul and, of course, all the sounds and passions elicited by the Crescent City. For their sophomore album, "Hurry Home," the Nawlins quartet - vocalist/guitarists Sam Doores and Riley Downing, vocalist/stand-up bassist Dan Cutler, vocalist/percussionist Cameron Snyder and ...
CD review - The Deslondes It's not hard to draw a laser straight line between The Deslondes' New Orleans home base and the quintet's twangy, tangy R&B/Soul gumbo on their eponymous debut. Just press play and marvel at the loping authenticity of the opening track and first single (how very Motown), the Fats Domino-flavored "Fought the Blues and Won." But subsequent listens reveal that The Deslondes aren't content to rely solely on the Crescent City's spice rack for their sonic stew; ...
