Leatherwood is "Still Learning"
"A huge part of growing up is learning lessons the hard way, not always getting it right," said Leatherwood. "I love when a country song can impart a little wisdom, and this song is about: living, learning and realizing it's okay to make mistakes, because at the end of the day, we're all still learning."
Written by Dan Wilson, Brett Sheroky and Jessica Roadcap, "Still Learning" is a nod to the rules of life that people often take for granted:
Jesus saves time don't wait
And not every road you take will lead you home
Talkin is cheap but love is free and
Some things change and some things won't
Ain't that the way it goes, I'm still learning what I already know
Having recently concluded his first-ever headlining tour, The Neon Does Tour and performed at CMA Fest's Good Molecules Reverb Stage, Leatherwood will make his Grand Ole Opry debut on Sept. 14.
Leatherwood, 24, was born and raised in Woodstock, Ga. Working on his grandfather's farm every summer, Leatherwood was exposed to the classic country hits of George Jones, Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty. Soon thereafter, he began picking up guitars and playing the traditional country music that still inspires him today.
Leatherwood's music career began to blossom in Statesboro, Ga. where he attended Georgia Southern University. During his time there, Leatherwood played college venues.
In late 2021 while still enrolled in college, Leatherwood formed his band and began playing all around the Southeast. After graduating, Leatherwood competed on the NBC hit television show The Voice and was crowned the Season 22 winner in December 2022. Leatherwood then signed with Republic Records / Universal Music Group Nashville.
