The Wild Feathers are in "Stereo"

Thursday, August 22, 2024 – Nashville country rockers The Wild Feathers are out with a new single, "Stereo," available now via New West Records.

The song is the opening number on the band's first new album in close to three years, "Sirens," arriving Oct. 5. Shooter Jennings produced the disc.

"'Stereo' is the first song we recorded for the record, but it was the last song written," said The Wild Feathers co-founding bassist/singer Joel King. "It began as an instrumental soundcheck jam while on tour, and we knew we had to make it a finished song before we traveled to LA to record with Shooter. We loved the idea of an explosive harmony/chorus right up front in the song, then followed by fun musical idiosyncrasies throughout. Lyrically, it struggles with the duality of life. How can life be both beautiful and depressing at the same time? If nothing is bad, how do you know when it's good?"

The songs "Don't Know" and the first single, "Sanctuary" previously were released. A live performance of the latter track – filmed at The Cabin in downtown Park City, Utah for Toyota and SiriusXM's "Sounds of the Road" series – is streaming now at YouTube.

The band consists of Ricky Young,Taylor Burns, Ben Dumas, Brett Moore and King. Founded in 2010 by Young, King and Burns, The Wild Feathers have put out four studio albums, a rarities release and a live album recorded at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, fusing Americana, country, folk, heartland rock and blues.

The Wild Feathers will launch a headline tour, getting underway Nov. 9 at Omaha, Neb.'s Reverb Lounge and then culminating Nov. 20 at Nashville The Basement East. Tickets for all newly announced shows go on sale this Friday.

CD reviews for The Wild Feathers

It takes fairly sizable and sturdy cajones to assemble a rarities collection when your decade-long history includes just three studio albums and a live set. In the case of the Wild Feathers, it bears mentioning that, during that same evolutionary decade, the roots rockers opened for Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, so the size and brassiness of their balls is hardly in question. As it happens, the band has owned up to the fact that "Medium Rarities" only exists because the early Covid ...
CD review - Greetings From The Neon Frontier The Wild Feathers' third outing should solidify its position as one of the guideposts of where country is heading right now. With Ricky Young, Taylor Burns and Joel King laying down exquisite harmonies guitars and bass and Ben Dumas on drums, these guys are at the top of their game. If you are looking for something different, better and a sign that bro country may be heading for the exit, take a listen. Make no mistake, this is a modern country album, but it could have been at home on ...
