Cone shines with "this little lighter of mine"

Friday, October 11, 2024 – Abbey Cone put out her new single "this little lighter of mine," a song about giving yourself grace in the wake of hard times.

"'this little lighter of mine' is a title I brought into a write with Josh Lovell and Hank Compton," said Cone. "I wanted to put an edgy, cheeky twist on the traditional children's hymn, 'This Little Light of Mine.' Ultimately, this song is about vices. We've all got 'em and need something to take the edge off every now and then because life is hard sometimes."

The track follows Cone's "I Hate Springsteen."

Cone, a Texas native, had been on an ill-fated deal with Big Machine. She is now independent and previously released a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" recorded live at The Ryman supporting LeAnn Rimes.

Cone just wrapped a run with Kimberly Perry on CMT's Next Women of Country Tour and will support Mickey Guyton and Morgan Wade this fall. Her first single as an independent artist was 2023's "If You Were A Song."
