Collins sings "Religion and Politics"
"I had the title 'Religion and Politics' in my back pocket for a long time because my mom had a friend when I was growing up who had different religious beliefs than we did, and he would always tell her, 'You don't talk about religion and politics among friends.' I always thought that would be a cool song title, but I didn't really know how I was going to use it," said Collins.
"I went back home for the first time in a while, and you know when you go back home, you talk with your friends about everything that's changed and what's happening back in your hometown. I had just gone through a breakup, and I knew that when I went home, they were going to ask me about him. So, I ended up adding religion, politics and you are the things that I don't want to talk about when I go back home."
Collins has been on the road with Carly Pearce for her hummingbird tour, as well as with Corey Kent and Nate Smith for their respective headlining runs.
After making her Grand Ole Opry debut, where she welcomed Lady A's Charles Kelley for a performance of their duet "How Do You Do That," Collins will return to the circle Tuesday.
