CMA honors South African broadcaster

Tuesday, October 29, 2024 – The Country Music Association presented Wimpie van der Sandt (CEO, Bok Radio) with the 2024 CMA International Country Broadcaster Award at the first ever CTC: Cape Town Country Music Festival in Cape Town, South Africa.

This award recognizes outstanding achievement by a radio broadcaster or syndicated radio reporter outside the U.S. who has made important contributions for the development of country music in their country.

Van der Sandt has successfully infused country music into South Africa through his radio station, Bok Radio. He strives to present new artists to the South African population and promote live music. This year, van der Sandt has had a hand in producing CTC, the largest ever country music festival in South Africa at DHL Stadium in Cape Town, which featured artists Brothers Osborne, Darius Rucker, Kip Moore, Craig Morgan, Morgan Wade and Zac Brown Band.

CMA will present the remaining 2024 CMA International Awards throughout the next several months.
