Culpepper announces debut disc, drops video

Wednesday, January 15, 2025 – Kashus Culpepper announced forthcoming release, "Jenni," out Jan. 24 and released a video today for "After Me?," which premiered with CMT making its broadcast debut on Paramount's Times Square billboard.

About shooting his first-ever music video, Culpepper said, "I'm a huge fan of movies. Really love the art of it all, which is why it was important for my first video to incorporate elements of my favorite films and music videos."

Opening with a trunk shot and title sequence alluding to the signature style of cultural touchstone Quentin Tarantino, the striking video directed by Jay Miller provides a compelling visual for the brooding song produced by Brian Elmquist (The Lone Bellow) and written by Culpepper alongside Mark Addison Chandler.

No further information was released about the CD

Culpepper recently made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry just six months into his career as a recording artist. This year, he will open for Leon Bridges, Ian Munsick, and making first-ever appearances at the Stagecoach, C2C in London and Tortuga Music Festivals.

Finding his voice in church as a five year old, it wasn't until 2020's COVID pandemic that Culpepper went from listener to performer, picking up a guitar and learning cover songs to play at barrack bonfires in Rota, Spain during his deployment with the Navy.

He soon started writing songs and played dive bars up and down the Mississippi Gulf Coast after coming home. Culpepper sold out headline club shows throughout the South before formally releasing a single song, and opened shows nationwide for Charles Wesley Godwin, Charley Culpepper signed with Big Loud and has released his first four career singles "After Me?," "Who Hurt You," "Out Of My Mind," and latest "Pour Me Out."
