Zeiders, Pearce go deluxe; Crockett debuts
Zeiders dropped "Relapse, Lies, & Betrayal" on Warner Records while Pearce weighed in with "Hummingbird: No Rain, No Flowers" on Big Machine Records.
Zeiders expanded his release from 10 to 21 songs. "Relapse" came out in August 2024. Zeiders helped write all but three of the 21 songs.
Pearce's deluxe version of her fourth disc contains five new tracks. The expanded album features three never-before-heard songs – "if looks could kill," "heart first" and "no rain" – plus two new acoustic takes on "oklahoma" and "things i don't chase." The Kentucky native released "hummingbird" last year.
Charley Crockett, whose career has been on the rise, makes his label debut with "Lonesome Drifter" on Island Records. Recorded over 10 days in March 2024 at Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles and co-produced by Crockett and Shooter Jennings, the release contains 10 songs and seems to veer more country than previous efforts.
Jason Boland & The Stragglers released "The Last Kings of Babylon" via Thirty Tigers. The 10-song collection marks a full circle moment for the country band as they reunite with producer Lloyd Maines, who produced the band's debut album, "Pearl Snaps."
Long-running bluegrass band The Seldom Scene are out with "Remains to Be Scene" on Smithsonian Folkways. Comprised of mandolin player Lou Reid, bassist Ronnie Simpkins, banjoist and fiddler Ron Stewart, Dobro player Fred Travers and guitarist Dudley Connell (who was recently succeeded by Grammy award-winner Clay Hess—more on that below), "Remains to Be Scene" features an interpretation of Jim Croce's "A Good Time Man Like Me Ain't Got No Business (Singin' the Blues)," The Kinks' "Last of the Steam-Powered Trains," a pair of songs by Bob Dylan: "Walking Down the Line" and "Farewell Angelina," the latter made famous by Joan Baez in 1965. The group also revisits "White Line," from the iconic "Live at the Cellar Door" album and pays tribute to one of their key forebears, Flatt & Scruggs, with "Hard Travelin'."
HARDY unveiled the exclusive Amazon Music "HARDY (Amazon Music Songline)," an eight-track release featuring reimaginings of his songs, including his only live version of "LIVE FOREVER" to date, and a cover of The 1975's "Love It If We Made It." The release includes fresh takes on his own hits — "QUIT!!" becomes a piano ballad, "JACK" is made over a la Nine Inch Nails, "PSYCHO" gets countryfied and "TRUCK BED" gets The Deftones
Brett Eldredge is out with "Lonestar Lovers" on his own Warm and Cozy Records. The new EP follows "Merry Christmas (Welcome to the Family)," which came out last year. treatment.
Bo Staloch released a six-song EP, "The Garden," on Capitol Records. Staloch ventures into Americana and country sounds with a Laurel Canyon feel as well. Born in Austin, Staloch is based in Nashville.
