Krauss & Union Station are back; Myers goes deluxe
Ty Myers surprised with the release of "The Select (Deluxe) ," an expanded version of his debut album via RECORDS Nashville/Columbia. The 17-year old sing's two-disc Deluxe includes two new tracks, as well as acoustic renditions of three songs. "The Select" was first released in January. The three acoustic takes are "Thought It Was Love," "Firefly" and "Worry is a Sickness." Along with a soulful new duet "Help Ourselves," featuring Harper O'Neill, the Deluxe also spotlights the self-penned "On The Boulevard," boosting the total number of solo writes to 13, a rare and remarkable feat for a newcomer's debut.
Susto Stringband released their debut album, Susto Stringband: Volume 1," via New West Records. The album is a collaborative work between Justin Osborne, frontman of the rock outfit Susto, and the Asheville, N.C.-based Americana band Holler Choir. It features nine of Osborne's ballads played in the Appalachian sound of Holler Choir's harmonies and stringed arrangements. Seven Susto staples have been reworked with bluegrass arrangements in Holler Choir's company alongside two new compositions. The nine-track set was produced by Ryan Stigmon and recorded at Mitch Easter's Fidelitorium Recordings in Kernersville, N.C.
Virginia trio Palmyra debut with "Restless" via Oh Boy Records. Sasha Landon, Teddy Chipouras, and Mānoa Bell met in a college music class. The debut contains 10 songs.
