I'm With Her is "Standing on the Fault Line"
The song is on the band's new record, "Wild and Clear and Blue," out on May 9 via Rounder Records. They recently shared "Ancient Light" and "Find My Way to You."
Watkins sings lead vocals on the new song. "Standing on the Fault Line" began in Echo Park as a meditation on weathering the climate change and financial instability of living Los Angeles, but turned into a bigger-picture question of when it's time to give up on a dream while noting that both staying or going is an equally courageous choice.
"'Fault Line' came from thinking about Los Angeles as a very transient place where many people feel a tension between whether to stick it out and stay or pack up and move on," said Watkins, co-founder of Nickel Creek. "Even if you've never been to L.A., I think a lot of people have had the experience of giving up on a dream and needing to pivot to something else."
Born from a melody brought in by O'Donovan, "Standing on the Fault Line" later evolved into a slow-building song that reaches an intensity at the bridge.
"Initially we considered having me sing alone on the bridge, but it made the song feel so much smaller," said Watkins. "Once Aoife and Jarosz took that section, it created this feeling of being supported by friends or ancestors or internal voices of encouragement. It's like we subconsciously arranged the song in a way that aligns with all the lyrical themes of the album."
Recorded in New York at both The Outlier Inn in the Catskills and The Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, "Wild and Clear and Blue" was produced by Josh Kaufman, a member of Bonny Light Horseman.
I'm With Her will tour North America this summer. Kicking off in June, the tour will find the band playing in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, Chicago, Boston, Seattle and Austin.

CD reviews
Understand that this is a children's album. Yet, if you're looking for the sounds of Sara Watkins with her groups Nickel Creek and I'm With Her bandmates, they are here on "Under the Pepper Tree," just not in the way you typically hear them. The album also features guest appearances from Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, David Garza and Watkins' now three-year-old daughter who inevitably factored into the album's inspiration.

There's no denying the incredible individual abilities of Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O'Donovan and Sara Watkins, the three acoustic music powerhouses behind the supergroup I'm With Her. Both as solo artists and as members of revered groups like Nickel Creek (Watkins) and Crooked Still (O'Donovan), these ladies are recognized as some of the finest songwriters and performers in Americana music.
Still, questions remained about their collaborative work. Would the sum be greater than the ...
Sara Watkins' voice is powerful. "Young In All The Wrong Ways" showcases her instrument admirably. Watkins burst upon the music scene in 1989, as part of Nickel Creek, teaming with her brother Sean and mandolinist Chris Thile. Nickel Creek had a solid run of recording and live music performances for a couple of decades before the members spread out into other collaborations (Nickel Creek has played a few festival dates most years, alongside their other projects). ...
