Church, HARDY, Maddie & Tea, Batson offer new sounds
HARDY, who has veered into rock, is back with "Country!," a six-song EP on Big Loud Records. His first new music of the year, the project features "Favorite Country Song," "Buck On The Wall" and three more new songs. Maddie & Tae put out their fourth studio album" Love & Light" on Mercury Nashville. The 16-track album features previously released songs "Free Like," "Sad Girl Summer," "Heart They Didn't Break," and "Kissing Cowboys." Josh Kerr, Chris LaCorte, and Corey Crowder produced. Players include bluegrasser acoustic guitarist Bryan Sutton, Academy of Country Music Guitarist and two-time Specialty Instrumentalist of the Year Danny Rader, four-time ACM Bassist of the Year Jimmie Lee Sloas, electric guitarist Kris Donegan and drummers Evan Hutchings and Aaron Sterling
Maddox Batson, who has made waves at the age of 14, released "First Dance (The After Party)" on rosper Entertainment/Warner Records. The 10-song release, a deluxe version in effect of his debut, includes three new songs: "I Need A Truck," "Somewhere South" and "2 Feet." The Alabama raised, Nashville born teen blends country and pop. He had a hand in writing all 10 songs.

It seems that in every artist's career, a live album must come. There are some classics out there, from The Allman Brothers' "Live at Fillmore East" to Johnny Cash's "Live at Folsom Prison," but typically it's a compilation of their hits with a new song added on as an afterthought, and not essential listening. Eric Church's new live release is anything but typical, however.

While Eric Church has set the bar high with his previous studio albums, "Desperate Man" is right up there with his best and may just be his most accomplished effort to date. Church continues to write memorable songs in a wide variety of styles, and even when he's not singing over country musical elements, his lyrical voice is always undeniably a country one.
He also knows how to have a little fun, especially with "Hanging Around," a soulful, funky tune mixing together ...
