Block puts her own stamp on "Cecilia"

Friday, July 11, 2025 – Priscilla Block puts her trademark sass on a reimagination of Simon & Garfunkel's "Cecilia" with her new song "You're Breaking My Heart (Cecilia)," out today via Mercury Nashville.

From Simon & Garfunkel's 1970 GRAMMY Album of the Year-winning record 'Bridge Over Troubled Water,' "Cecilia" tells a story of love gone wrong; however, Block's "You're Breaking My Heart (Cecilia)" flips the script. Block's version tells off the "other woman" with the hands-off-my-man attitude of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," in an emotional tug-of-war that's equally playful as it is piercing. ."

"Some of my all-time favorite songs are modern takes on old classics, and when I heard this one, it just felt right," said Block. "My mom grew up listening to 'Cecilia,' and to me, it has that same timeless pull — like a modern-day 'Jolene.' I hope y'all love it 🤎."

"You're Breaking My Heart (Cecilia)" was written by Jessie Jo Dillon, Chris Tompkins, Jesse Frasure and Hailey Whitters. The track was produced by David Garcia.
