Herndon revisits "A Man Holdin' On" with McBride
The track is the second single from Herndon's new double album, "THIRTY," a project honoring his three-decade journey through country music set to be released in two installments. "Volume One" will be out this fall and feature reimagined versions of Herndon's most hits, each reinterpreted as collaborations. Penned by Gene Dobbins, John Ramey and Bobby Taylor, "A Man Holdin' On" became one of Herndon's signature songs in the late '90s.
"This song has always been one of the most emotional songs in my catalog," said Herndon. "To revisit it with someone as fearless and gifted as Ashley was both humbling and electric. We didn't just sing the song. We lived it."
Released through Club44 Records, the track also marks Herndon's next step in with the Nashville-based label signing Herndon to a three-album deal.

Ashley McBryde titled this six-song EP "Never Will: Live From a Distance," but just don't expect it to sound much like a typical live album. These songs were recorded live so fans could hear what they sound like live, it's true, but you won't hear any crowd cheering on it – just the music alone. With that said, though, it represents the cream of McBryde's quite productive crop.
A couple of these songs lean toward McBryde's gothic side. ...
With "Regifted," Ty Herndon goes the traditional route in creating a holiday album. Even so, though, his collection of mostly familiar carols and seasonal songs includes a few creative turns.
The album kicks off with a powerful ballad, "Orphans of God," a duet with Kristin Chenoweth. Then for "Oh Come All Ye Faithful," this familiar hymn is arranged with prominent percussion and a backing vocal that gives it a fresh, South African music feel. ...
