Maddie & Tae announce the end
Maddie Marlow Font and Tae Dye Kerr are best known for their 2019 hit, "Girl in a Country Song," a dig at bro-country music, which was very popular at the time.
Kerr will be a stay-at-home mom, while Font will embark on a solo career. Kerr is married to songwriter Josh Kerr, and they have a daughter, Leighton, who is four next month, and son Chapel, 13 months.
"Thank you for all the love as we step into this new bittersweet chapter. We both feel overwhelmed with gratitude for what we've built with y'all the last 12 years. Thank you for making our wildest dreams come true and we hope you stay close by to watch us chase some new dreams 🤍 We love you so much and hope you still come shake ya booty with us on tour next year 🤟🏼," they wrote on Instagram.
""Even though we're not gonna go on this journey as Maddie & Tae together, we're still walking and doing life together outside of it," Font said in an interview in People.
They left open the door to work together again in the People interview. "We're leaving this so open-ended because, you know, we might make another record one day," Font said. "We might go do some tour dates one day."
"Absolutely," Kerr said.
"But just in this season," Font said, "it doesn't feel aligned for us to do it together."
Maddie and Tae first met in 2010 through their vocal coach, who was based in Dallas. Font was a native of Sugar Land, Texas, while Kerr grew up in Ada, Okla.
The duo has co-written and recorded four albums and four EPs. After finishing high school, the duo moved to Nashville and worked as Maddie & Tae. In 2014, Big Machine Records signed them to their revived Dot Records label. Their last release was "Love & Light" for Mercury this past May.

CD reviews for Maddie & Tae
Madison Font and Taylor Kerr, better known as Maddie & Tae, have given the world an album title perfectly fitting for our strange modern times. The only bad part about "Through The Madness," though, is that it's appended with "Vol. 1." Please, heavens above, no more madness! That humorous reservation aside, though, these country girls have created lovely music that just might distract you temporarily from all the world's current craziness.

In just two songs, Maddie & Tae illustrate the two sides of Christmas. The pair's version of "O Come All Ye Faithful" is given a faithful reading and even includes scripture recitation at the end. Next, with "Merry Married Christmas," marital fidelity at Christmastime is celebrated happily. The "We Need Christmas" EP reminds us once again that there are many sides to the holiday season.

Maddie & Tae (aka Madison Marlow and Taylor Dye) start their biggest song "Girl in a Country Song" with a warning, "No country music was harmed in the making of this song." That warning also applies to the remaining 10 songs, which is about as country sounding as music seems to get these days for most artists.
"Girl in a Country Song" is an answer song, of course, to the bro country going on all around them with faceless women being depicted as objects while ...
