Craig Morgan goes home again, to Fort Bragg

Monday, September 15, 2008 – Craig Morgan goes back home again, playing a show for military personnel and their families at Ft. Bragg, N.C. this Thursday, Sept. 18, a concert that will be filmed for television.

Morgan was stationed at Ft. Bragg from 1990 to 1992 during his tenure in the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division. Morgan spent 10 years on active duty with the Army prior to launching his music career, and now performs for the troops regularly. He received the 2006 USO Merit Award for his tireless support of U.S. soldiers and their families. Past recipients include Steven Spielberg, Elizabeth Taylor and Bob Hope.

The show is Morgan's eighth "Toast To The Troops" special event, for which he partners with sponsors Jack Daniel's and the USO. At these events, Morgan and his band work with post volunteers, stuffing more than 10,000 care packages for military troops stationed overseas, and the day concludes with a free concert for all of the base's military personnel and their families.

Morgan's 90-minute show will be taped for a television special to be broadcast next month. "Craig Morgan: Back to Bragg, brought to you by Case International Harvester" will premiere on GAC: Great American Country in late October, to coincide with the Oct. 21 release of Morgan's fifth studio album, "That's Why." The CD is Morgan's first release for BNA Records, with whom he signed earlier this year after spending several years on Broken Bow.

But he's still a Grand Ole Opry member and signed with a new label in 2019. What's intriguing about this collection ...
Craig Morgan has been called "country music's champion of the everyman." Not only did the native of Kingston Springs, Tenn. spend more than 10 years in the U.S. Army, when he came home he worked construction, wore the badge of a sheriff's deputy and even did time at a Walmart. For his first album of original material in four years as and his second for Black River, he makes it abundantly clear in the liner notes that he is a devout Christian and the tone of the album reflects ...
CD review - This Ole Boy Craig Morgan likes to keep things simple. Once dubbed "country music's champion of the Everyman" he is best known best known for songs that espouse the core values of the genre: Faith ( That's What I Love About Sunday), good times, ( Redneck Yacht Club) and helping others ( Almost Home ). We get much of the same on "This Ole Boy," his first new music in three years and debut with Black River Entertainment. Disappointingly, the patriotism, religion and love ...
