Parton goes on TV, extends tour

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 – Dolly Parton will make her first national television appearances for her "Backwoods Barbie" CD with performances of the newly-released single Shinola on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (Friday, Sept. 19) and the Ellen Show (Monday, Sept. 22).

This will be in advance of a new round of dates for Parton in the U.S. and Canada, starting in mid-October in Florida and continuing into November.

Backwoods Barbie, the album's title track, is featured as one of the songs for the "9 to 5" musical, for which Parton wrote all the music and lyrics. The show premieres in Los Angeles Sept. 20 and hits Broadway April 23, 2009.

A live performance video for the third single Shinola was filmed on her recently-completed European tour at a sold-out show at London's O2 Arena in front of 18,000 fans.
