Lady Antebellum ecstatic over Grammy nominations

Thursday, December 4, 2008 – Lady Antebellum's members were predictably happy for Grammy nominations Wednesday for best new artist and best country performance by a duo or group with vocals for Love Don't Live Here.

The trio learned the news via text message as they walked off stage between gigs in Las Vegas, where they were closing out a busy 2008 tour schedule. "I never thought after the ACM win that anything better could happen," said Dave Haywood, referring to the Academy of Country Music award. "Then when we won at the CMAs (Country Music Association), I told everyone I could die a happy man. This is the coolest thing that will ever happen in my lifetime."

"Oh my gosh. I might get to meet Beyonce," said Hillary Scott. "I am seriously in shock and can't even think right now. This is just beyond my wildest dreams."

"The list of people who have been nominated in the best new artist category over the years is stacked with all of our idols," said Charles Kelley. "We have had so many cool things happen this year, and we are really grateful to the music community for welcoming us into the circle."

CD review - Heart Break Lady Antebellum may cause you to throw out many of your country music principles. They don't sing and play traditional country music, for starters. They're not cool like more rocking Americana artists. In fact, they're huge mainstream country stars. So, why are some of us still suckers for their sound? And why does the new "Heart Break" sound so good on the ears? Well, it's simple, but complicated. Hillary Scott is simply a wonderfully sincere singer. ...

CD review - 747 Six albums into its career, Lady Antebellum pretty much has the formula down pat. Either Hillary Scott or long and lanky Charles Kelley assumes lead vocals with Dave Haywood also providing vocals plus guitars and mandolin in a bunch of songs easy on the ears with a story often involving a lust for love. The typical song ("Lie With Me," for example) starts with Kelly or Scott taking a stanza, followed by the other with both then tackling the chorus together. This has worked quite well ...
