Little Jimmy Dickens has brain surgery

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 – Grand Ole Opry star Little Jimmy Dickens is recovering in a Nashville area hospital following surgery Tuesday to repair a subdural hematoma, a build-up of blood on the brain.

"He is resting comfortably," according to a statement from the Opry. "The family asks for your thoughts and prayers for Jimmy as he recovers."

Dickens, 88, recently celebrated 60 years on the Opry.
