Kenny Chesney becomes country's biggest money maker
Friday, February 13, 2009 – Kenny Chesney was the biggest money maker in the country field, in 2009, according to Billboard. Others in the overall top 20 were Rascal Flatts, The Eagles and Taylor Swift.
Madonna was number 1 of all performers with $242,176,466. This would include money made from concerts, digital sales, ring tones and CD sales, although Billboard pointed out that concert was the key factor since CD sales have been plummeting. Madonna earned almost $230 million from the box office.
Chesney earned $90,823,990, good for sixth overall. Rascal Flatts was eighth with $63,522,160. The Eagles were 11th at $61.132,213. Swift was 16th at $45,588,730. While Swift toured a lot in 2008, she did get credit for revenue while touring with Brad Paisley because she was the opening act.
