Alan Jackson drops Sissy's Song
Tuesday, February 17, 2009 – Sissy's Song, the fourth single from Alan Jackson's "Good Time," goes to radio next week. He wrote the song following the sudden death of a woman who worked in the Jackson household and who the Jackson's saw every day.
"She was just a real sweet young woman," he said. "The sudden death of someone so young who we saw every day was really hard on me and all of us. I didn't sleep for a while. I just didn't feel right. I sat down one day and wrote this song and after that I felt alright."
Afterwards, Jackson went into the studio with Keith Stegall and made the recording with just guitar and vocals and gave it to the family for the funeral. "A lot of people told me how much it made them feel better and helped them get through it a little easier, so I was very proud of it."
Jackson has scored three consecutive number one singles from "Good Time,": Small Town Southern Man, Good Time and Country Boy, his 25th number one.
