For Sugarland, It Happens

Thursday, May 14, 2009 – It's happening again for Sugarland, whose It Happens is number 1 on the Billboard song chart for the week ending May 23. The song switched spots with Jason Aldean's She's Country. On the album chart, the "Hannah Montana: The Movie" soundtrack was first again.

On the album chart, Rascal Flatts remained second with "Unstoppable," Taylor Swift third with "Fearless" and Aldean fourth with "Wide Open." Keith Urban was fifth, up one, with "Defying Gravity." On the rest of the top 25, Kellie Pickler was up 3 to 18 with her self-titled disc. Dierks Bentley was at 19, up 3, with "Feel That Fire." George Strait's "Troubadour" was at 20, up 5. Martina McBride's "Shine" was 22, up 5. Billy Currington was at 24, up 4, with "Little Bit of Everything."

On the song chart, Carrie Underwood's I Told You So featuring Randy Travis stayed second. Brad Paisley moved up two to fourth with Then. Keith Urban was up two to fifth with Kiss a Girl. Kenny Chesney was sixth with Out Last Night, up three. There was not much movement on the rest of the top 25.

On the overall top 200, Hannah Montana was 2nd, Rascal Flatts 4th, Swift 7th, Aldean 14th and Urban 19th.

CD review - The Incredible Machine "The Incredible Machine" is a rather unfortunate title for Sugarland's latest full-length. Listening to Find The Beat Again, for example, makes it sound as though vocalist Jennifer Nettles wants to be Deborah Harry-fronting-Katrina & the Waves rather than, say, a latter-day Loretta Lynn. With its handclap rhythm and shouted "Hey, Hey" on the chorus, this track - along with many others - finds Sugarland firmly entrenched in a predictable pop music device. ...
