Steve Martin gigs on A Prairie Home Companion

Thursday, June 18, 2009 – Steve Martin will perform during a live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion on Saturday, June 27. The live broadcast, hosted by Garrison Keillor, returns to Tanglewood, Mass. for the 10th annual live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion from the Koussevitzky Shed. The show will feature special guests bluegrass band The Steep Canyon Rangers and Martin performing songs from his musical debut CD, "The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo" (Rounder).

Actor Martin Sheen and musician Stuart Duncan also will be on the bill.

Martin released the disc on his own through Amazon in January and then Rounder put it out May 19. Rounder also released a deluxe pop-up version of the album, on June 16, which included two additional songs; an instrumental version of Late for School and The Slow Crow. Martin wrote all songs on the CD.
