Chesney becomes Ambassador of Rock

Friday, June 19, 2009 – Kenny Chesney will perform at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York on Sept. 15 as part of Hard Rock's 2009 Ambassadors of Rock Tour, a global concert series.

"As part of this global program we are hosting iconic artists around the world and we are thrilled to bring one of the world's biggest and most successful stadium acts to the crossroads of the world - our New York cafe," said Sean Dee, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Hard Rock International. "Kenny Chesney's history of stellar, high-energy performances is the perfect complement to an already impressive international tour lineup."

"Music that connects is music that rocks," Chesney said. "To me, the Hard Rock Ambassadors of Rock Tour is about the experience of music, of coming together, of how blinding it can be when it's good... whether it's Bruce Springsteen or Nine Inch Nails, Neil Young, The Killers or us. I'm honored to take part in this because that place where music and people come together to really let go, well, that's what we're all about."

Hard Rock will donate proceeds from Chesney's New York appearance to benefit PLAN!T NOW - an organization that empowers coastal residents to mitigate disasters in severe storm and hurricane-prone regions by being prepared. The group offers outreach, resources and connections for residents in coastal regions in the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean, to create understanding about the power of preparedness. Chesney is on the group's board of directors.

Others on the 2009 tour are O.A.R. in Orlando and an all-star lineup at Hard Rock Calling in London with Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, The Killers, Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper and Relentless 7, Fleet Foxes and The Gaslight Anthem.

CD review - Here and Now deluxe After a storied run including eight Entertainer of the Year awards and two Greatest Hits albums (so far), Kenny Chesney was due for a setback. This one wasn't strictly personal, as the "Chillaxification" Tour got waylaid by a pandemic shutdown that scrapped most everything. The loss really belonged to the fans, as the original "Here and Now" record Chesney was supporting was a beauty – from the stirring "Knowing You" to the snarky "Wasted", ...
CD review - Here and Now For many years now, Kenny Chesney has been the number one yacht country artist; one never spotted far from an ocean or without an adult beverage in his hand. However, this album's title track expresses a much deeper perspective on life. "I must've sat on a dozen islands/Watched the sun sink into the sea." Previously, island living was the reason for life. Now, life's purpose is described as much more internal than external. Call it trading that pirate flag for a little more mindfulness. ...
CD review - Songs for the Saints Kenny Chesney's "Song for the Saints" is a step in the right direction for the popular country star. Inspired by the Hurricane Irma disaster, which hit Chesney personally as it destroyed a house he owned in the U.S. Virgin Islands, these songs are more serious and heartfelt than typical Chesney music. Best of all is "Love for Love City," a reggae duet with Ziggy Marley incorporating steel drums into an inviting island mix. It's followed by a cover of Lord ...
