Vince Gill goes platinum

Monday, December 11, 2006 – Vince Gill’s multi-disc, multi-artist "These Days" album was certified platinum for sales of 1 million units, it was announced Monday. This achievement came during the same week Gill wrapped up the first leg of his and picked up his 35th Grammy nomination.

“It's exciting to be involved in such a creative display of artistry,” said Luke Lewis, co-chairman of Universal Music Group Nashville. “This project illustrates the depth of Vince's talent and shows that fans demand his distinct take on the country music genre."

On Dec. 7, the Record Academy announced that Gill’s “The Reasons Why,” was nominated for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.

Gill also just closed out the first part of his tour with a three-day run in Las Vegas. The tour will continue in 2007, although it was originally scheduled to finish in Las Vegas.

Each disc is divvied up depending on his mood, with the opening "Working On A Big Chill" album being "The Rockin' Record." And this album sets things off right with the lovely mid-tempo and groovy title track. ...
