Sugarland's Nettles teams with Elton

Thursday, January 28, 2010 – Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland will sing with Elton John, the latest in a slew of new performers announced Thursday, who will perform at Sunday's awards in Los Angeles. Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert will present awards.

Current nominees Jamie Foxx and T-Pain with Slash and Doug E. Fresh; Drake, Eminem, and Lil Wayne with Travis Barker; a special tribute to guitar virtuoso Les Paul featuring Jeff Beck and Imelda May; the cast of "American Idiot" appearing with Green Day; four-time winner Roberta Flack. Actor Simon Baker ("The Mentalist"), comedian and TV host Stephen Colbert, rock legend Alice Cooper, nine-time winner Sheryl Crow, actress Kaley Cuoco ("The Big Bang Theory"), seven-time and three-time Latin winner Placido Domingo, actor Robert Downey Jr., three-time winner Wyclef Jean, and 17-time Latin winner Juanes, six-time winner John Legend, actress/singer Jennifer Lopez, actress/singer Lea Michelle ("Glee"), actor Chris O'Donnell ("NCIS: Los Angeles"), pop singer Katy Perry, four-time winner Lionel Richie, TV and radio host Ryan Seacrest, four-time winner Seal and writer/director Quentin Tarantino are the latest presenters announced.

CD review - The Incredible Machine "The Incredible Machine" is a rather unfortunate title for Sugarland's latest full-length. Listening to Find The Beat Again, for example, makes it sound as though vocalist Jennifer Nettles wants to be Deborah Harry-fronting-Katrina & the Waves rather than, say, a latter-day Loretta Lynn. With its handclap rhythm and shouted "Hey, Hey" on the chorus, this track - along with many others - finds Sugarland firmly entrenched in a predictable pop music device. ...
