Emily West likes blue sky

Tuesday, February 9, 2010 – Emily West released the song Blue Sky to country radio this week. The song, which features Keith Urban, is the first single from West's upcoming self-titled debut album. West co-wrote the song with Gary Burr after her parents dissolved their marriage of 32 years.

"That time period was devastating and so difficult to go through but I needed to let go and just write my pain out on paper," said West. "I'm happy to have experienced the healing process of creating such a personal piece of art and only hope it touches someone else's life."

West sent "Blue Sky" to label-mate Urban who after listening to the track agreed to sing and play guitar on the song. Urban said, "Emily West is an original. She had this song she wanted me to hear and it was 'Blue Sky'. I just loved it."
