Joey+Rory look to soph CD, Zac Brown Band tour

Thursday, February 11, 2010 – Joey+Rory are looking ahead to the release of their sophomore album in early summer release. The CD is being called "Album #2" with no exact release date.

Carl Jackson who also produced their debut, once again handled those chores. That album, "The Life of a Song," debuted 10 on the Billboard Country Album Chart and remained on the charts for 50 weeks selling 200,000 copies. The single Cheater Cheater scored a lot of airplay for the husband-and-wife duo.

"This is our sophomore album and the title cut is a humorous take on the pressure put on artists when they make their second album," said Rory. "Rather than worry about it or avoid it, it's more our nature to just face it head on, and even find the humor in it."

The Vanguard/Sugar Hill recording artists will hit the road this spring with Grammy award-winner Zac Brown Band for the "Breaking Southern Ground" tour. Joey+Rory will not only perform, but will act as emcee for the tour. "We're beyond excited about going on tour with the Zac Brown Band," said Joey. "Over the last year, we've become good friends. They're the real deal. They don't compromise. We love that."

"And although there are differences in our music," said Rory. "We're cut from the same cloth." "Probably some ol' worn out jean material that feels good and has been around a while," joked Joey.

Joey+Rory are nominated for a 2010 Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Vocal Duo. The award is fan-voted and ballots open on Feb. 26.

When not performing, writing music or in the studio, Joey visits with patrons and lends a hand at Marcy Jo's Mealhouse, a restaurant she and her sister-in-law co-own outside of Nashville. Rory heads to Music Row where he writes at his publishing company. His current hit is the number 14 A Little More Country Than That recorded by Easton Corbin. Recent awards include 2009 ASCAP Most Played Songs for I Will by Jimmy Wayne and You Can Let Go Now by Crystal Shawanda. Other hit songs include the multi-week Number One songs Some Beach by Blake Shelton, Someone You Used to Know by Collin Raye and The Chain of Love by Clay Walker.

CD reviews for Joey + Rory

CD review - Hymns That Are Important To Us There have been many artists throughout the year who've tried their hand at offering up songs for the faithful, mining their past for the hymns of old. Yet. it's the rare few who've delivered the emotional punch that Joey + Rory manage. With Joey Feek battling the final stages of cancer and choosing to forego treatment, the couple took advantage of Joey's good days to head into the studio to craft this collection of time-honored hymns that resonates with deep emotion. ...
CD review - Country Classics: A Tapestry Of Our Musical Heritage With their dedication to traditional country sounds, you may be a little surprised by Joey + Rory's song choices on the covers album, "Country Classics: A Tapestry Of Our Musical Heritage." There isn't a George Jones or Merle Haggard tune in the bunch! Although all these songs are fine ones, many of them were also big hits. For instance, the pair sing Crystal Gayle's big hit, "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," as well as John Denver's "Back Home Again. ...
CD review - Joey+Rory - His & Hers On their third release, "His and Hers," husband and wife duo Joey and Rory practice their marital vows quite literally. The couple split the vocal duties right down the middle, alternating lead on each of the 12 tracks. It was a conscious decision to give listeners a feel for each of their voices. The duo is best known for finishing third on CMT's 2008 show Can You Duet and for their single, Cheater Cheater. The opener Josephine is an emotional letter from a Civil War soldier ...
