Sade sends Lady Antebellum to second
Tuesday, February 16, 2010 – Lady Antebellum won't be number one when the Billboard charts are released Thursday. That's because Sade's first CD in 10 years, "Soldier of Love," will be the best selling disc in the U.S. with Lady A's "Need You Now" slipping to second.
Sade sold 502,000 units with Lady A second with 208,000. That was only a one-percent drop in sales. The trio has sold 897,000 units in 3 weeks.
Josh Turner was fifth on the overall chart with "Haywire" coming in at 85,000 units sold. That represents Turner's third straight top 10 disc. "Everything Is Fine" debuted and peaked at number 5 with 84,000 in 2007.
Taylor Swift was down 3 to 10th with 50,000 units sold of "Fearless." Swift was down six percent.
Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Feb. 14) totaled 7.83 million units, a drop of 8 percent compared to the comparable sales week of 2009 (8.56 million).
