Turner stays first again with Why Don't We Just Dance

Monday, February 22, 2010 – Josh Turner's hit single Why Don't We Just Dance holds the top spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart for three consecutive weeks and also tops the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart, Turner's label said Monday.

The song is the first three-week-number-one single of Turner's career. "I am on cloud nine right now," said Turner. "You can't get any higher than number one, and to stay there for three weeks is just incredible. I am really happy that people love this song."

"Haywire," Turner's fourth studio album, debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and entered Billboard's Top Country Albums chart at 2 - marking the singer/songwriter's third straight top 10 album. Turner adds, "With the way the economy is right now, I'm especially grateful to every person who went out and bought the new record and helped us have such a great first week on the sales charts."

The CD has received mediocre reviews, tending to praise his voice, but questioning the quality of the material.

Alan Jackson invited Josh Turner to be part of his Freight Train Tour kicking off April 8 in Estero, Fla. "I am really looking forward to sharing the stage with Alan," said Turner. "He has always been one of my musical heroes, and I know we will be playing for a great group of country music fans during this tour."

CD review - I Serve a Savior When Josh Turner reaches down to sing "swing low" during "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," he has the sort of deep voice that can do this chorus's low notes justice. Then with this title track, Turner pours on the traditional country joy with a pedal steel beauty. The latter makes the honky tonk feel like a church or vice versa. It's just the kind of line ...
CD review - Deep South They're called "overtones" or pleasing harmonic notes that neatly accompany a main melody. People gifted with them - Josh Turner, for example - essentially have more than one great singing voice in one body. Outfitted with overtones, a good vocalist - Josh Tuner, for example - can accentuate the emotion of a song, each note an opportunity to go a step higher or lower. It's that rare combination of talents that earned Turner a 2007 invitation to the Grand Ole Opry at the ...
CD review - Live Across America Josh Turner's relationship with Cracker Barrel stretches far beyond a love of chicken & dumplings and sweet tea. The country store/restaurant sponsored his 2012 tour and previously has released a live concert recorded at the Ryman Auditorium. Turner's latest release for Cracker Barrel features songs from his latest tour, recorded at 12 different stops along the way. While live releases seldom compare well to studio albums, Turner has a crack band that can match the abilities of the ...
