Emmylou Harris, Mark Knopfler close Soundstage season

Monday, February 26, 2007 – Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris will close the fourth season of the PBS concert show "Soundstage" March 1. Harris and Knopfler released "All the Roadrunning" last year and toured behind it. The disc was nominated for a 2007 Grammy in the Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album category. Captured live at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles before a sold out crowd, performances include the title track, "All the Roadrunning," Harris' "Red Dirt Girl" and Knopfler's "Speedway at Nazareth."

Others who have appeared this eason were Lee Ann Womack, Jewel, Rickie Lee Jones, Peter Frampton and the New York Dolls.

"We are so fortunate to have attracted such a diverse group of artists for the fourth season of Soundstage," says Joe Thomas, founder of HD Ready. "I think more and more musicians are realizing that coming on our show gives them the rare opportunity to solely perform their best work in an intimate setting, for TV."

Soundstage first aired from 1974-1985 and was recently reintroduced by Thomas. HD Ready specializes in combining high-definition television and surround sound. The majority of the concerts are filmed before small studio audiences, at WTTW's Grainger Studio in Chicago. However, for the fourth season, Soundstage has veered away from its usual format, by filming outside of the Chicago soundstage for a few episodes, at remote locations such as Red Rocks, Gainesville, and Myerson Symphony Center.

CD review - Wrecking Ball (reissue) Emmylou Harris' "Wrecking Ball" was a real game changer for the revered singer/songwriter. Lanois, who came to prominence thanks to his production work on seminal albums from U2, Peter Gabriel, Robbie Robertson and Bob Dylan, presented Harris in an entirely new way by enveloping her always impressive ...
CD review - Hard Bargain If there is a one guarantee in the music world, it is that an Emmylou Harris will be filled with gorgeous singing. Since gracing Gram Parsons' solo albums in the early '70s, Harris' vocals have been among the most heavenly in contemporary music. Her latest effort, "Hard Bargain," is no exception. The disc soars on Harris' signature vocals, an exquisite intertwining of the earthy and ethereal. What makes this different than most of Harris' 30-plus albums is that ...
CD review - All I Intended To Be Emmylou Harris, the woman with the sweetest voice in country-folk music - who was recently inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame - returns with her first solo record since 2003. A mix of choice covers and originals, this assembles an A list of Nashville players to back Harris, but the most important instrument - her voice - remains the forefront and focus of these 13 songs. Marked by themes of faith and forgiveness, the disc was recorded with ex-husban Brian Ahern in Music City. ...
