Lambert, Shelton get engaged
Tuesday, May 11, 2010 – Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are more than an item - they are engaged.
The proposal happened this past weekend for the singers.
"He called my dad and got his blessing first," Lambert said about Shelton's proposal on May 9, according to Shelton's web site. "That was so Southern and old-school and perfect."
Shelton, 33, picked a diamond-and-platinum ring for his fiance. "I was so proud of him," said Lambert, 26. "We've been together five years, so he knew exactly what I wanted but it's so much more perfect than I could have picked out myself."
The setting for the proposal was down-home - in the woods near Lambert's Tishomingo, Okla., home. The celeberation was on the informal side. "We had a couple of Bacardi and Diet Sprites - in a Solo cup!"

Cynics might think that Miranda Lambert is presumptuous in entitling her fifth disc "Platinum" and, in effect, assuming she'll get her plaque for selling 1 million units. But Lambert says that isn't the case, but more a matter of style, looks and feel.

Every once in a while an album comes along that restores your faith in mainstream country music. Miranda Lambert's "Revolution" is just such a recording. It's not revolutionary, as the title might suggest. Instead, this CD is chock full of topnotch songs that are both memorable and sincere and never sound slick or overproduced.
