Those Darlins postpone Aussie tour due to accident

Tuesday, May 18, 2010 – A member of Those Darlins suffered an injured last weekend resulting in breaking bones and the postponement of an Australian tour.

Nikki Darlin of Those Darlins broke both bones in her left forearm after performing Friday at The Nelsonville Music Festival in Ohio. She fell after the show, tripping in a field outside a cabin they were staying in. Nikki Darlin will have surgery later this week. She will need to recover throughout June.

This led to the postponement of their Australian tour with Wagons. "The band apologizes to their Aussie fans, promising to announce new dates soon, and encourages everyone to still head out to the scheduled shows and party with Wagons," Those Darlins said in a statement.

The Darlins' scheduled show in Memphis this Thursday, May 20 was rescheduled for Saturday, July 10 at The Hi-Tone.

This Saturday's gig at Mercy Lounge in Nashville is still on and is now a fundraiser to help pay off the hospital bills incurred from Nikki's injury. The three other members of Those Darlins (Jessi, Kelley and Sheriff Lin) will play with other local musicians filling in.

So when their 2009 debut album was released, its success amongst even jaded music critics was a pleasant surprise. The band, made up of a trio of women on guitar, bass and ukulele, as well as a male drummer, specialize in lowbrow, but witty ditties that often focus on getting drunk and eating chicken. Hailing from Tennessee, their first album ...
CD review - Those Darlins Those Darlins are not exactly country, and they're not precisely punk (their tattoos may help in that respect), but the three young Murfreesboro, Tenn. Darlins (that's the surname the three women - Nikki on ukelele/vocals, Jessi on guitar/bass/vocals and Kelley on bass/guitar/vocals - use) make a lot of good music on their full-length debut. There's a care-free, fun attitude merging both country and punk from the start of Red Light Love. That vibe continues on DUI or Die. ...
