Daniels to host July 4 special
Thursday, June 17, 2010 – Charlie Daniels will host the America's Opry Weekend Star-Spangled Special over Independence Day Weekend. The show is available to country radio stations across America from Westwood One. Throughout the special, Daniels will share country music's hits so far this summer, live cuts from the Opry stage, and musical salutes to the red, white and blue. Among the songs and artists included in the special are All American Girl, Carrie Underwood; Water, Brad Paisley; American Honey, Lady Antebellum; Firecracker, Josh Turner; and the Charlie Daniels Band's In America" and "Devil Went Down to Georgia.
Daniels' next CD release, the patriotic compilation "Land That I Love" is out Aug. 10 on Blue Hat/E1 Entertainment. The CD includes two new cuts being released for digital download on July 4 (Iraq Blues and What This World Needs is a Few More Rednecks).

Charlie Daniels has his Southern rock personality (exemplified by The Devil Went Down To Georgia) and he also has his spiritual side (as he's known to join Billy Graham crusades now and again). But when the fiddler/guitarist first arrived in Nashville, he befriended folks like banjo great, Earl Scruggs, and his two sons, Gary and Randy.
