Carrie Underwood graduates with honors

Monday, May 8, 2006 – In between concerts and other obligations of being a music star, Carrie Underwood apparently found the time to finish college.

The 2005 American Idol winner, whose debut album, "Some Hearts," was certified triple platinum for record sales of more than 3 million units, graduated Magna Cum Laude with high honors and received her degree in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.

Underwood, who attended the school in Tahlequah, Okla., before leaving to participate on American Idol, had only one semester left to finish her degree. Since winning American Idol and starting her recording career, Underwood managed to fulfill her college requirements to obtain her diploma and walked with her graduating class during the ceremony held this past Saturday.

Underwood also was inducted to the NSU Hall of Fame on April 28.

Back to reality this week as Underwood plays three shows in California.

CD review - Cry Pretty Carrie Underwood's life was reading straight from the storybooks: one of the few American Idol Winners with ongoing success; a professional athlete for a husband; a beautiful baby boy. The string of great fortune turned sharply in 2017, when Underwood began the unfathomable experience of three consecutive lost pregnancies. This was atop a frightening fall at her home that ended with her face in nearly 50 stitches. Sharing these moments with her fans makes the beamingly-beautiful singer ...
