Krauss parties with Louvin

Monday, October 25, 2010 – Charlie Louvin will celebrate the release of his 20th studio record "The Battles Rage On," with a listening party and fundraising benefit show on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Bell Buckle, Tenn. with Alison Krauss on hand. In addition to debuting the new record, memorabilia will be auctioned off at the event to offset the costs of Louvin's treatment for pancreatic cancer.

The auction and listening party will be hosted by Louvin and Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike. There will be a very special live performance by Krauss who will be performing a selection of her favorite songs by The Louvin Brothers, as well as Ed Bruce (writer of the hit song Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys) and Indiana bluegrass band the Wildwood Valley Boys.

The event will be at Bell Buckle Banquet Hall in Bell Buckle, Tenn. The auction takes place from 2-5 p.m. with the listening party at 6 p.m. Krauss plays at 7 p.m

The new CD is a 12-track collection of country tribute songs to service men and women. Special guests include fellow Del McCoury and Jamie Dailey.

At 81, he's hardly the same singer who elevated the art of tight harmonies with his brother, Ira, in the 1940s and '50s. However, collaboration is no less vital on this, his third studio album of the last three years(!). The Lord may have to wait a while to reclaim the younger Mr. Louvin. Louvin is in fine voice, but it is the strident, starchy piano ...
