Lady Antebellum shows you can go home again

Tuesday, November 16, 2010 – Lady Antebellum showed you can go home again.

The trio played their first hometown headlining show in Augusta, Ga. on Monday, Nov. 15. Lady Antebellum, including Nashville's Hillary Scott and Augusta natives Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, performed two sold-out shows and received multiple honors from the community of Augusta, including a newly designed amphitheatre to be named in their honor.

The group was surprised to learn of an approximately 7,000 capacity amphitheatre would be named the Lady Antebellum Pavilion. The park broke ground on Oct. 22 and is slated to open in summer 2011.

A sold-out acoustic midday show at an auditorium raised nearly $15,000 for the MCGHealth Children's Medical Center.

Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver presented Lady Antebellum with keys to the city and named a nearby street "Lady Antebellum Way" for the day.

The trio also had a surprise of their own as they presented 3 teachers from Kelley and Haywood's former high school with $1,000 each in school supplies from OfficeMax on behalf of the national "A Day Made Better" school advocacy campaign founded to erase teacher-funded classrooms.

Later that night, the group performed to a sold-out crowd at the James Brown Arena. They wrap their headlining Need You Now 2010 Tour on Nov. 20 in Kansas City, Mo.

CD review - Ocean Lady Antebellum may lean a little too closely to pop music for many tastes, but it's hard to argue with the trio's song choices. Humans have come to believe the cliché, 'Time heals all wounds,' as if it were some sort of scientific fact. But what if it's just that, a well-worn cliché, with no actual ...
CD review - Heart Break Lady Antebellum may cause you to throw out many of your country music principles. They don't sing and play traditional country music, for starters. They're not cool like more rocking Americana artists. In fact, they're huge mainstream country stars. So, why are some of us still suckers for their sound? And why does the new "Heart Break" sound so good on the ears? Well, it's simple, but complicated. Hillary Scott is simply a wonderfully sincere singer. ...

CD review - 747 Six albums into its career, Lady Antebellum pretty much has the formula down pat. Either Hillary Scott or long and lanky Charles Kelley assumes lead vocals with Dave Haywood also providing vocals plus guitars and mandolin in a bunch of songs easy on the ears with a story often involving a lust for love. The typical song ("Lie With Me," for example) starts with Kelly or Scott taking a stanza, followed by the other with both then tackling the chorus together. This has worked quite well ...
