On Jan. 18, 2011 American/Sony Legacy will release expanded editions of The Jayhawks' "Hollywood Town Hall" and "Tomorrow The Green Grass." The former was released in 1992 and the latter in 1995. Both are expanded with bonus tracks.

Jan. 22 - Philadelphia, TLA
Jan. 27-28 Chicago, The Vic

A pre-sale on tickets will be held Nov. 30-Dec. 2 for all dates except Chicago. The pre-sale password is "blue." General ticket sales start Dec. 3, although Chicago will begin Dec.4.

The band's lineup for these dates will be Mark Olson (guitar, vocals), Gary Louris (guitar, vocals), Marc Perlman (bass), Karen Grotberg (keyboards) and Tim O'Reagan (drums).

In New York and Chicago, The Jayhawks are playing two nights; the first night the band will play "Hollywood Town Hall" in its entirety, the second night will be devoted to "Tomorrow The Green Grass." Additional fan favorites will be played each night.

CD review - Back Roads And Abandoned Motels The Jayhawks' "Back Roads and Abandoned Motels" is an album mostly made up of songs front man Gary Louris wrote or co-wrote for other projects, ranging from the Dixie Chicks to Jakob Dylan. For the most part, these songs just sound like great Jayhawks songs because that Louris vocal quiver is one of Americana music's most recognizable and heart-tugging sonic signatures. Therefore, it's momentarily off-putting when Karen Grotberg takes the lead on album-opener "Come ...
