Kellie Pickler gets married

Tuesday, January 4, 2011 – Kellie Pickler and songwriter Kyle Jacobs were married in "an intimate ceremony" on New Year's Day on a private island in the Caribbean, according to her publicist.

No further details or photos were available at this time.

Jacobs has been a staff writer for Curb Music since 2003. He is the co-writer on Garth Brooks' single, More Than a Memory, which became the first song to debut at Number One on Billboard's Country Singles chart in its history. In addition to sharing rights on Kimberley Locke's Top 10 hit, 8th World Wonder. His songs have been recorded by artists Trace Adkins, Jo Dee Messina, Craig Morgan, Clay Walker and Pickler.

Pickler announced their engagement on June 23, 8 days after he proposed on the day of her late grandmother's birthday, while on a beach at sunset after 2½ years of dating.

The singer has released albums in 2006 and 2008 and also was on American Idol.

This marked the second marriage of a country singer on New Year's Day in the Carribean this year. Shania Twain married on Saturday as well in Puerto Rico.
