Robert Plant plays MerleFest

Tuesday, February 8, 2011 – Robert Plant will play at MerleFest 2011 in late April with his touring band, it was announced Tuesday.

Robert Plant and the Band of Joy's eponymous album, released in fall 2010, resulted in several tours behind the CD as well.

Robert Plant and Band of Joy and the previously announced lineup of artists will join host Doc Watson on the campus of Wilkes Community College for a celebration of "traditional plus" music-a term Watson coined to describe the unique mix of traditional, roots-oriented sounds of the Appalachian region, including bluegrass and old-time music and expanded to include Americana, country, "plus whatever other styles we were in the mood to play," he explained.

Scheduled for April 28 - May 1, the event is held on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, N.C.
