"If I Die Young" goes 2x Platinum for The Band Perry

Wednesday, June 1, 2011 – The Band Perry hit, If I Die Young went Double Platinum for sales exceeding 2 million just as Memorial Day weekend began.

The news came as The Band Perry launched into several headlining dates on Tim McGraw's Emotional Traffic Tour.

"It's been an amazing year. f I Die Young has an inspirational message that so many have embraced and we are humbled that it has impacted so many people. This is truly an honor," said The Band Perry in a statement.

On June 2, they will perform as part of the VH1 Save The Music Songwriters Music Series. The Series kicked off in New York with Glee star, Matthew Morrison, continues with The Band Perry in Nashville and will travel to Los Angeles for a yet-to-be-announced performance. Their current single, You Lie, is their fastest-rising to date and is now a Top 10 hit. This is the third single off their self-titled debut album, which was released in October 2010, and certified Gold 4 months later. The Band Perry will join Keith Urban on the road in September.

The Band Perry gets its name from the fact that all three of its members are siblings. There's Kimberly Perry, who sings lead, in addition to playing piano and guitar. Her brother Reid Perry is the bassist, while Neil Perry plays drums, mandolin and accordion.
