Pistol Annies leads country chart

Wednesday, August 31, 2011 – Pistol Annies, a side project of Miranda Lambert, will be the number one selling country album in the U.S. when the Billboard charts are released Thursday.

Pistol Annies' "Hell On Heels" sold 44,000 units, good for the top of the country charts and the fifth best selling CD overall. The trio consists of Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley.

"I can not believe how much the fans have embraced us," said Lambert. We are so thrilled and even more inspired than ever. Thank you so much to our country fans. Pistol Annies are here to stay."

Fellow Annie Monroe said, "I am completely overwhelmed and humbled by the response of our wonderful fans. I couldn't be more encouraged that country music is being embraced so completely."

"Pistol Annies has been an organic, artistically driven project from the beginning, and we are so proud that our couch dream has become critically and commercially successful," Presley said. "We are just three country girls singing about the truth and we are overjoyed by how well our album has been received."

Luke Bryan's "Tailgates & Tanlines" was second on the country chart and seventh on the overvall chart with 35,000 units sold, down 34 percent. Jason Aldean was third with "My Kinda Party," selling 29,000 units, down 22 percent. He was ninth on the Top 200 chart. Eric Church was fourth on the country chart and 10th on the overall chart with "Chief, selling 24,000 units, down 23 percent.
