Krauss, Kristofferson, Bentley gig the White House
"Country Music: In Performance at the White House" will be a PBS music special recorded in the East Room of the White House. President and Mrs. Obama will host the event.
The evening also will include performances by Lauren Alaina, Lyle Lovett, Darius Rucker and James Taylor.
The hour-long television special, part of the Emmy Award-nominated PBS "In Performance at the White House" series, will premiere Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern on PBS stations nationwide. The program will also be broadcast at a later date via the American Forces Network to American service men and women and civilians at U.S. Department of Defense locations around the world.
Earlier in the day, First Lady Michelle Obama is hosting an educational workshop at the White House on November 21 at 2 p.m. "The History of Country Music: From Barn Dances to Pop Charts" is for middle and high school students, moderated by Robert Santelli, executive director of The Grammy Museum. Santelli will be joined by some of the artists from the evening concert, who will share their personal experiences of Country music and answer students' questions. , Dierks Bentley and The Band Perry have a high-powered gig on Monday - they're going to play the White House.
