Lady A holds top spot again

Thursday, December 22, 2011 – Zac Brown band held onto the top of the Billboard Country Songs chart for the week ending Dec. 31 with Keep Me In Mind. On the album chart, Lady Antebellum regained the number one spot with "Own the Night."

Lady A took over the top from Scotty McCreery's "Clear as Day which slipped to second. Jason Aldean stayed third with "My Kinda Party," Taylor Swift fourth with "Speak Now: World Tour Live CD/DVD" and Toby Keith fifth with "Clancy's Tavern."

Brad Paisley moved from 17 to 14 with "This is Country Music." Kenny Chesney was at 19, up 3, with "Hemingway's Whiskey." "Icon: George Strait" went from 36 to 33. Darius Rucker's "Charleston, SC 1966" was up 5 to 34. Ronnie Dunn had a big mover with his self-titled disc up 14 to 35.

Aldean stayed second on the songs chart with Tattoos on This Town. Rascal Flatts was third with Easy, which features Natasha Bedingfield. David Nail was fourth with Let It Rain, followed by Luke Bryan and I Don't Want This Night to End.

Chesney made into the top 10 - at 10 - with Reality, up 1. Keith was up 3 to 14 with Red Solo Cup. George Strait moved up 3 to 17 with Love's Gonna Make It Alright. Taylor Swift was a big mover with Ours jumping from 28 to 22. Kip Moore had the lone new song in the top 30. Somethin' 'Bout a Truck was up 2 to 30.

On the bluegrass albums chart, "The Goat Rodeo Sessions" By Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile was once again first. Alison Krauss & Union Station remained second with "Paper Airplane." "Red Neck Christmas" from Slidawg and the Redneck Ramblers debuted in third. Mark O'Connor was fourth with "An Appalachian Christmas." Steve Martin And the Steep Canyon Rangers were fifth with "Rare Bird Alert."

On the overall top 200, Lady A was at 5, up 10; McCreery 9th, Aldean 16th, Swift 21st and Keith 28th.

Either Hillary Scott or long and lanky Charles Kelley assumes lead vocals with Dave Haywood also providing vocals plus guitars and mandolin in a bunch of songs easy on the ears with a story often involving a lust for love.
