Underwood leads sales chart again

Tuesday, May 15, 2012 – Carrie Underwood's fourth album, "Blown Away," will be number 1 for the second consecutive week on Billboard's Top Country & all-genre 200 albums sales chart when it is released Thursday. This marks the first time since 2010 that a country artist has debuted at number 1 on Billboard's all-genre 200 albums sales chart for 2 back-to-back weeks.

"Blown Away" sold 120,000 copies, down 55 percent.

The CD also holds the number1 spot on Canada's Top 100 Country albums sales charts for the second straight week and is also the top selling digital album in Canada again this week.

Upon its release on May 1, "Blown Away" made history by debuting at number 1 on Billboard's Top Country albums sales chart making Underwood only the second country artist in the 47 year history of the chart to have each of their first 4 albums debut at the top. Debuting atop the Billboard 200 chart made Underwood the second country artist in history to have 3 consecutive albums debut at number 1. "Blown Away" became country's best-selling digital album debut since 2010.

Lionel Richie's "Tuskegee" also jumped from 6 to 3 on the overall chart with 71,000, up 11 percent. Luke Bryan was 10th with "tailgates & tanlines," selling 26,000; down 1 percent.

Underwood always sings well, no matter how her songs are arranged, but it's a true treat to hear that voice without much of the big production that usually accompanies it. ...
CD review - My Gift It makes logical sense that Carrie Underwood, arguably mainstream country music's best pure vocalist, would make a Christmas album. And make no mistake about it, this is a 'Christmas' album, as opposed to a 'holiday' release. These 11 tracks are nearly all spiritual in nature. Therefore, you won't hear about Santa, reindeer or even toys under the tree. The only truly secular track is "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," which is not – by a long ...
CD review - Cry Pretty Carrie Underwood's life was reading straight from the storybooks: one of the few American Idol Winners with ongoing success; a professional athlete for a husband; a beautiful baby boy. The string of great fortune turned sharply in 2017, when Underwood began the unfathomable experience of three consecutive lost pregnancies. This was atop a frightening fall at her home that ended with her face in nearly 50 stitches. Sharing these moments with her fans makes the beamingly-beautiful singer ...
