Underwood visits Today
Tuesday, July 24, 2012 – Carrie Underwood will perform on the Today Show Summer Concert Series this August as the morning show plans a full week of outdoor concerts following the 2012 Summer Olympics. Underwood's concert in Rockefeller Plaza is set for Wednesday, Aug. 15.
Among her hits, Underwood's set will also include the title track and new single Blown Away from her fourth album. The single, has sales approaching quarter of a million and was written by Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins who also co-penned her smash hit, Before He Cheats.
Soon after her appearance on the Today Show, Underwood will continue preparing for her third headline arena tour across North America, "The Blown Away Tour." The tour, which started in June with shows in the United Kingdom and across Australia, will launch in North America on Sept. 14 in Manchester, N.H. and continue through December.

Carrie Underwood's gospel music album may not be traditional in the sense that she sings these songs the same way she heard them as a child growing up. However, on the traditional/modern country music spectrum, this album leans closer to traditional country music than just about anything Underwood's recorded. Underwood always sings well, no matter how her songs are arranged, but it's a true treat to hear that voice without much of the big production that usually accompanies it. ...
It makes logical sense that Carrie Underwood, arguably mainstream country music's best pure vocalist, would make a Christmas album. And make no mistake about it, this is a 'Christmas' album, as opposed to a 'holiday' release. These 11 tracks are nearly all spiritual in nature. Therefore, you won't hear about Santa, reindeer or even toys under the tree.
