– Taylor Swift will be seeing "Red." So will her millions of fans come Oct. when her new 16-song disc will be out by that title.
"I have some really big news. I'm really excited because I have a new album coming out Oct. 22...The album title - it's called 'Red,' and we've already done so much work for this. I've been working on it for two years, and I'm so proud of it."
Swift said she "wrote so many songs for this album." She said she wrote between 30 and 35 songs. "It was really hard" to pick the songs.
"There were things I went through personally," she said about the subject matter, adding that her life "becomes a story board" when she writes for a disc.
Swift unveiled the cover art for the disc which shows her shaded with red lips.
"I've been working on this record so hard and for so long," she said.
Swift made her announcement via YouTube tonight. Swift also said her first single will be We Never Ever Will Get Back Together, out tonight.
Swift played the song as well during the YouTube broadcast, which lasted about 20 minutes. "This is a really really romantic song," she said to laughter. She said the song was dedicated to an ex-boyfriend.
Swift wrote the song with Max Martin and Shellback.
Last time out, Swift wrote every song on "Speak Now" by herself. On "Red," she collaborated with several artists, producers and songwriters she had always wanted to work with, according to a press release.
As for the title track, Swift said, "I wrote a song called 'Red' and thinking about what that means to me and all the different emotions that are written about on this album, they're all pretty much about the tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships that I've experienced in the past two years. All those emotions spanning from intense love, intense frustration...jealousy, confusion all that. All of those emotions in my mine are red...There's nothing beige about any of those feelings."
