– Erich Church's "Chief" won the CMA for Album of the Year.
Decked out in aviator glasses, Church said, "I've been at this a long time." After thanking people, "I spent a lot of my career wondering where I fit in. Too country. Too rock. I want to thank you for having somewhere to wear my hat tonight." this was Church first CMA award.
Chief took the honor over Lady Antebellum for "Own the Night," Miranda Lambert - "Four the Record," Dierks Bentley - "Home" and Luke Bryan - "tanlines & tailgates."
