Phosphorescent announces tour

Tuesday, January 29, 2013 – Phosphorescent will launch a worldwide spring tour in support of their upcoming album "Muchacho" on Dead Oceans.

Starting with a quick jaunt to SXSW, the tour kicks into full swing March 25 in Philadelphia, weaving it's way across the country for a month before wrapping with a hometown show at New York's Bowery Ballroom.

The band, a revamped quintet led by Matthew Houck, will then hop across the pond for a string of United Kingdom and European shows.

The disc is due March 19 with 10 songs: 1. Sun, Arise! (An Invocation, An Introduction) 3. Ride On / Right On 4. Terror In The Canyons (The Wounded Master) 5. A Charm / A Blade 6. Muchacho's Tune 7. A New Anhedonia 8. The Quotidian Beasts 9. Down To Go 10. Sun's Arising (A Koan, An Exit)

CD review - To Willie The title of this salute from Phosphorescent - Matthew Houck's one-man indie folk act out of Brooklyn - to Willie Nelson refers to Nelson's 1977 album "To Lefty From Willie." While Nelson focused on Lefty Frizzell's better known songs, Houck targets relatively obscure songs from the Nelson catalog. An effective trio of tunes comes from Nelson's Phases And Stages, with renditions of Walkin', Pick Up The Tempo and especially It's Not Supposed To Be That Way ...
