Underwood waits for Sunday night

Tuesday, May 7, 2013 – Carrie Underwood will perform Waiting All Day for Sunday Night, the opening theme for Sunday Night Football on NBC, it was announced today.

Underwood replaces Faith Hill.

Underwood makes her Sunday Night Football debut on Sunday, Sept. 8 on NBC's first SNF broadcast of the 2013 NFL season, an NFC East rivalry game when the Dallas Cowboys host the New York Giants. The opening theme will continue each week kicking off Sunday Night Football every Sunday night throughout the NFL season on NBC.

"I am thrilled to be a part of NBC's Sunday Night Football and am so honored they asked me," said Underwood. "I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night."

"Carrie Underwood was our first and only choice to perform the Sunday Night Football opening," said SNF producer Fred Gaudelli. "She's one of America's most popular entertainers and the perfect fit for our show."

Waiting All Day for Sunday Night is set to the original Joan Jett song, I Hate Myself for Loving You and marks Underwood's first production with NBC Sports. From 2007-2012, the song was performed by music superstar Hill and in 2006, the inaugural season of Sunday Night Football, Pink performed the opening.

Underwood is currently headlining and selling out arenas across North America on her "Blown Away Tour." The tour, which launched last June, has played in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, and will perform a total of 112 dates by the time is wraps on May 23 in Abbotsford, Canada.

CD review - My Savior Carrie Underwood's gospel music album may not be traditional in the sense that she sings these songs the same way she heard them as a child growing up. However, on the traditional/modern country music spectrum, this album leans closer to traditional country music than just about anything Underwood's recorded. Underwood always sings well, no matter how her songs are arranged, but it's a true treat to hear that voice without much of the big production that usually accompanies it. ...
CD review - My Gift It makes logical sense that Carrie Underwood, arguably mainstream country music's best pure vocalist, would make a Christmas album. And make no mistake about it, this is a 'Christmas' album, as opposed to a 'holiday' release. These 11 tracks are nearly all spiritual in nature. Therefore, you won't hear about Santa, reindeer or even toys under the tree. The only truly secular track is "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," which is not – by a long ...
CD review - Cry Pretty Carrie Underwood's life was reading straight from the storybooks: one of the few American Idol Winners with ongoing success; a professional athlete for a husband; a beautiful baby boy. The string of great fortune turned sharply in 2017, when Underwood began the unfathomable experience of three consecutive lost pregnancies. This was atop a frightening fall at her home that ended with her face in nearly 50 stitches. Sharing these moments with her fans makes the beamingly-beautiful singer ...
